COVID-19 Updates on Local Businesses
As the uncertainty of the current COVID-19 crisis sweeps through the world, it is more important than ever to focus on our local communities and figure out ways to support small businesses even as we keep ourselves healthy. Here are several options to help, as well as a list of what local businesses are doing to keep customers safe. We will be regularly updating the list, so check back often.

WAYS TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES
• There is a new dining bond initiative that aims to support restaurants facing financial crisis due to COVID-19. Consider purchasing bonds for your favorite eatery. If you do not see them on the list, contact them to let them know about it. Read more about it here.
• Order gift cards to be used at a later date. If you have the means, buy gift cards and gift them to those on the front lines right now: grocery store workers, ER and health care staff and restaurant workers.
• Order take-out.
• If you can't get out, use one of the food delivery services like Door Dash, Grub Hub or Uber Eats.
• Contact a local caterer to supply some ready made meals. Many of these can be frozen and used over the course of a quarantine.
• Buy wine, beer and distilled spirits from your local winery, brewery and distillery. While they have had to close their tasting rooms, most are still offering curb pick up.
• Shop locally owned grocery stores. In many cases, they have supplies that the big corporately owned stores are running out of. (No guarantees on TP though!)
• Shop local farms! We are hoping that the local farmers' markets do not get closed down, but if it should happen, we will keep you updated on local farms and what they are doing to make fresh local produce available for you.

Food Share has lost many of their volunteers due to the COVID-19 crisis. If you are not in the high risk group (age 65+ or with health conditions) and have not traveled in the past 3 weeks, please volunteer. They are also accepting donations.
FARMS, FARM MARKETS AND CSAs
As of Monday March 16, Farmers' Market are considered an essential service provision which will hopefully protect our access to fresh farm produce. Go to the markets, buy from a CSA, support your local farms!

Friends Ranches in Ojai will continue to be at farmers's market and is adding extra hours at the packing house for pick-ups. Hours will be M, T, Th, F, 7a-noon. They also still have mail order at friendsranches.com.
Rio Gozo Farm is offering home deliveries in the Ojai valley of fresh organic in season produce. Farmers are taking temperatures, wearing gloves when handling produce and frequently washing hands. Underwood Family Farms Animal Center and Pick Your Own Fields in Moorpark and Somis will be closed and all events cancelled. The Farm Markets at both locations will be open from 9am-6pm and they will be at all normally scheduled farmers' markets. They are offering a Healthy Harvest Box for those who can't make it to the markets. Customers can order online for pickup at either facility, local home delivery or via FedEx shipping outside the 20 mile delivery radius. 805.529.3690
The Ventura County Certified Farmers' Markets are able to stay open with some modifications to operations. There will be no cooked food or samplings at any of the markets. Please remember to: 1. Wash all produce before consumption. 2. Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. 3. Please remain at home if you have even mild symptoms of any illness. 4. Maintain 6 feet of distance between other people.
RESTAURANTS AND EATERIES
Most coffee shops are open, including Kay's Coffee Shop (both locations), Five07 (T.O), Palermo (VTA), Singing Sun Coffee (VTA), Ragamuffin Coffee Roasters (OXN and NP), Longevity Coffee (T.O.), Historia Bakery (T.O.) and Beacon Coffee (VTA and Ojai), but are no longer accepting reusable mugs/cups and self serve condiments are behind the counters. Most shops are reporting that they are using disposable dishes for the time being and doing extra wipe downs of all communicable surfaces. Some have changed their operating hours so give them a call before heading over. Phone orders are welcome and take out is the only option.
Buon Gusto Olive Oil in Ventura will still be at the farmers' markets and is offering free local delivery to Ojai, Ventura and Oxnard and free shipping anywhere in the US. NO on farm pick-up for safety reasons. Order on the website buongustofarms.com or email sales@buongustofarms.com for details.
Corky's Nuts is creating a pick-up option and is currently shipping to every state. All organic raw walnut products are available. Edible readers can also enter the code EDIBLELOVE on the website for a 10% discount good through 4/15/2020.
FlatIron Bagel in Thousand Oaks is open and offering pick-up and local delivery.
Ideal Seafood in Ojai is open and continues to offer drive thru service. They are vacuum sealing fish for customers to freeze.
Main Street Meats & Real Food Market in Ventura is open and sanitizing customer areas regularly. Curbside pick-up and limited delivery is available. They recommend you call in your order one day in advance, regardless of order size. Bulk boxes are available which offer savings. Ojai Deer Lodge will be offering take-out only as of Tuesday. Order online or call 805.646.4256 and thank you for supporting us during these difficult times. Limited menu TBD, hours Friday 5-8. Ojai Rotie is open for takeout at the Wine box. Order online at the website for curbside pick-up. Claud's bread will not be at the farmers' market buy is available at Rainbow Bridge.
Paradise Pantry in Ventura is open and following strict social distancing protocol in house. They are also serving curbside pick-up for both the market and the restaurant. New hours for this week are posted on their Instagram: @paradisemantrymarket
Poseidon Brewing Company in Ventura, like all breweries, has had to close it's tasting room but is offering curbside pickup through preorder only. Hours of order/pickup is Mon-Fri 4pm-7pm and Sat/Sun noon-5pm. To order call 805.477.0239.
Private Chef Robin in Ojai is available to help clients in their own home with meal prep using items they already have on hand. She is certified in healthy and safe food handling. 805.284.4264
Roan Mills in Fillmore will be at all scheduled markets next weekend. No news about open hours this weekend.
Sage Ojai will be closing until March 27th. During shut down they will be revising the menu to focus on simple immune boosting options. Upon reopening employees will be thermometer tested before shifts and will wear gloves at all times in the kitchen. We will update when they reopen with more information.
