Instructions

How to wash kale
  1. Fill a deep bowl with water.
  2. Remove rubber band or twist-tie off the bunch of kale.
  3. Remove the center rib by running your fingers down the center.
  4. Submerge the leaves of kale in water, swishing them around gently to remove any dirt.
  5. Allow kale to soak for a few minutes and swish again.
  6. Pour water out of the bowl and rinse kale under fresh water to remove any remaining dirt.
  7. Spin dry or roll up in a clean towel until ready to use.

Preparation

Use kale in place of spinach or chard. Sauté quickly in olive oil with garlic for a healthy green side dish or add to your favorite pasta recipe to add more greens to your life.

Add kale to your Caesar salad massaging the dressing first in the kale and let sit for 30 minutes, then toss in romaine just before serving.
