
Apple and Pear Crisp

Ingredients
- 3 large apples
- 2 large pears
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for the pan)
FOR THE CRISP TOPPING
- 1 cup rolled-cut oats
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
- ½ cup melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Core, peel and chop the apples and pears into small pieces.
- Mix the fruit in a large mixing bowl with the granulated sugar and cornstarch.
- Add the mixture to a seasoned cast-iron skillet (or an ovenproof casserole dish) rubbed with a pat of butter.
- In another bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and spices with melted butter. Once combined, spread the oat mixture on top of the apple-pear mixture in the pan. Bake for about 45 minutes.
- Serve warm. Don’t forget the ice cream!
