Wanna get a coffee flavor fix without drinking it from a cup? Alison Smith, manager of Spicetopia (Spice-Topia.com), shares these espresso products available at the downtown Ventura store that spin the coffee bean in new culinary directions.

Espresso-infused salt: Dissolve sea salt in espresso, re-crystallize the mixture and voilà–espresso salt. Sprinkle it atop chocolate-covered caramels, chocolate brownies or add it to meat spice rubs.

Espresso-infused sugar: Made the same way as espresso salt, this sugar can be used in baking or as a finishing sugar for desserts' whipped cream dollop, cupcake frosting or glazed cookies.

Espresso spice rub: Van Dorn Gourmets' spice rub blends organic Fair Trade espresso beans with chile powder, imported Spanish smoked paprika chipotle peppers and other spices. Use on pork tenderloins, steaks and hamburgers.

Espresso balsamic vinegar: This EnFuso-brand product blends balsamic vinegar with a coffee reduction. The flavor starts with an espresso kick and finishes with the vinegar's tanginess. Use it as a marinade for steak or pork.
