TAKE YOUR PICK

With the launch of the Pleasant Valley Certified Farmers' Market & Crafters' Corner, Camarillo residents now have two convenient farmers' markets where they can purchase farm-fresh produce and a wide variety of other foods. Held Wednesdays from 3 to 7pm, the new market is located at the Community Center Park.

Among the about 30 purveyors, shoppers will find free-range eggs from Fillmore-based Shepherd Farms and avocados and citrus from Marie's Citrus in Camarillo. Beylik Family Farms in Fillmore offers tomatoes and peppers; Moorpark's F&F Farms will have shiitake and oyster mushrooms, avocados and greens.

Shoppers can also stroll around the crafters' area, grab a loaf from Great Harvest Bread Company in Newbury Park, and indulge in an after-dinner treat from Desserts to Die For in Ventura.

The market is a partnership between the Ventura County Certified Farmers' Market Association and the Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District. It is in addition to the Saturday farmers' market sponsored by Camarillo Hospice (CamarilloHospice.org).
