Ventura County vegans (and omnivores looking for a change of pace) are in for a treat when they visit Veggie Grill in Westlake– everything on this new restaurant's menu is vegan, including a fine selection of desserts. All the menu items are free of eggs, dairy, trans fats, cholesterol and refined sugar. (Gluten-free options are available, too.)

Though meat isn't on the menu, there is a wide array of options flavorful enough to tempt non-vegans. Choose from 100% plant-based "meats" in dishes like Santa Fe Crispy "Chickin," (which really does taste like the real thing), the Baja "Fish" Tacos and VG-Cheeseburger.

Desserts include a Grilled Cookie that the menu describes as a "hand-crafted chocolate chip cookie griddled and topped with chocolate pudding, VG-Crema and chocolate sauce."

Veggie Grill, which has locations throughout Southern California, has won numerous awards, including "Best American Restaurant" from the Los Angeles Times and Best Vegan Restaurant from the OC Register.
